I feel like I have been away from St Petes for ages - one week in Madrid (get well Tom!), a week in Portmahomack (the usual sun, lambs, strawberries, fresh eggs every morning etc) and then back to work with a bang - 20 sermons/talks in one week. This included three radio programs for Unbelievable, to be broadcast in September, a series of lectures of Christian Heritage Trust in Cambridge and a wonderful meeting in Borders in Cambridge - where one of my atheist opponents declared that he did not need reason or evidence to believe in the goodness of human nature - he just did! And this from a man who demanded that I provide empirical evidence for faith. But best of all was being back in St Peters yesterday....the morning was like a baby boom.....and the evening communion was quite special - its not often that a Pentecostal pastor, a Brazilian C of S minister, an English Presbyterian minister, a charismatic worship leader and an APC minister all worship together....but we did, together with about 50 others. It was a great communion service. Anyway the new Monthly Record is out and I thought I would share with you the lead article - which is actually from the Free Church Assembly reports. Since I wrote this I have come across some European sociologists writing about a post secular Europe. Is this really what is happening? I am more and more getting inquires from fromer atheists...is this a trickle or the beginning of a flood? Read on...
