Monday Club is an outreach club run in St. Peter’s for Primary School age children. It runs from 6pm to 7.30pm every Monday during term-time and is run by both workers and students from the St. Peter’s congregation. Every Monday, we have arts and crafts, snack, games, use of the pool table, table tennis, tabletop football, W-ii games and more. Often, the Monday club children will be split into two halves – P1-3 and P4-7 who work with different leaders. This is because it is often easier to play games or do crafts with the separate age groups as well as being able to have more in-depths discussions and conversations with the older children. We occasionally have outings to perhaps the cinema, a park or bowling as well as our own events, such as our yearly Monday Club’s Got Talent or Christmas Nativity. A number of Monday Club children join us each year for our Congregational Outing and some of their parents usually join us too.
The most important part of Monday Club is telling the children about the Bible and that Jesus loves them. We do this through the weekly talk and by the general chats we have with the children. We aim to build good relationships with the children as well as getting to know their parents so that we can build bridges into the community. When the children go on to High School, we run a Teens Group for them to move on to.
