Creche, Sunday School and Bible Class

Creche
St. Peter’s Free Church offers a Sunday morning crèche facility which is specifically for the benefit of parents who take their preschool children to church services.  The crèche is run every Sunday morning throughout the year from approximately 11:15 to 12:30 and is organised and supervised by volunteers from within the congregation, and up to four helpers are available, depending on the number of children attending the crèche.  There are many toys, games, and books for the children to enjoy and the hall in which the crèche takes place has different zones to cater for different age groups within the crèche:

  • the main floor area is perfect for more active infants who like trikes and ball games; and
  • the carpeted stage area, complete with bean bags, soft mats, and tents, is ideal for toddlers and babies.

To take advantage of the crèche at St. Peter’s Free Church, simply take your child or children upstairs when the crèche is intimated, and make sure to leave any nappies, food, and toys with one of the helpers before you return to the service.

Sunday School
Sunday School is run on a Sunday morning during the morning service.  Children remain in the service until after the second song, after which they go through to the back halls for Sunday School and Creche.  Parents are more than welcome to take their children through and wait until they are settled before leaving.  If a child is upset or needs parental attention, one of our Sunday School team will be sure to let you know.  Even if you are just visiting St Peter’s, we would be happy for your children to join us at Sunday School.

We presently have classes running for children from pre-school to Primary 7, each with a main teacher and assistant.  At the beginning of each week, the children meet together for some singing before going to their separate classes.  The classes are fairly informal, allowing the children time to ask questions and have some fun.  In the pre-school class, the children will have a short lesson, a colouring sheet and then are taken back up to creche for the remainder of the service. In the primary school classes, the children will have a lesson and worksheet to go with it.  There is often a craft to do and always time for some games as well!  We currently use our own material for teaching the junior Sunday School class (P1-3) and use a variety of materials for the older class (P4-7).

When children move onto High School, we run a fortnightly Bible class for them.
