Congregational Outing

Every summer, normally at the end of June, the congregation goes out together for the day.  We usually go out to a park near or in Dundee, somewhere where there are both adult and child attractions!  The day is for anyone and everyone and often the children (and parents) from the Monday Club will come along as well.  Children who attend the day out without their parents are always under the supervision of one/two named adults and are picked up and dropped off from the church, along with anyone else who needs a lift.
The day out gives an opportunity for us to get together in an informal way and have some fun, as well as the chance to get to know others in the congregation a little bit better.  The day is usually very relaxed, starting with some fun races for the children, as well as the compulsory adults race!  Everyone takes their own food and we have a picnic lunch together before spending the afternoon playing group games, such as rounders or football, or having a coffee in the cafe before we head home.  Everyone is welcome to come along and it is always a great day out.

“We went along to the Congregational outing not long after joining St Peter’s.  We hadn’t got to know many people before we went, but felt much more at home after spending the day together.  The children had a brilliant time and didn’t want to leave and my husband and I were able to talk to people we hadn’t spoken to before or who we didn’t get opportunity to speak to on a Sunday” (Rachel)
